Foodie Weekend!!!

Foodie Weekend!!!

Two weeks ago we had some wonderful visitors come to town, Jenn and Roberto of The Left Over Queen food blog. We met them a few months back when we had a Foodbuzz sponsored dinner at Blue Zoo and the four of us connected really well and made plans to visit each other soon. They are from St. Augustine, which is right up the road a bit, so they came down for the weekend. As soon as they arrived, which happened to be lunch time, we went up the road to our quaint downtown area and ate at Matt's Casbah (a landmark location, that had closed and was taken over and redone by another landmark local chef)

After a wonderful lunch we checked out some of the downtown antique shops and other stores before heading back to the house.

At the house, Roberto and I discussed our arts (he is an amazing artist and photographer) while Peter and Jenn discussed and compared notes on their arts (they both cook! How cool is that?!?!)

Our cat Evening really took to Roberto and vice versa :D

Peter decided to do his winning sauce from the POM Wonderful contest (though at the time, we knew we were finalists, but the winner hadn't been selected yet) over some HUGE grouper and fried tortilla strips. He put Jenn to work with the tortilla strips and Roberto and I went silly with the cameras, all the while also playing some Food Lovers Trivia.

Afterwards we had such great conversation, which inevitably led to heading downstairs and playing some ROCKBAND!!

The next morning, Peter made us all some amazing Eggs Benedict with prosciutto, and we actually ate out on our balcony. (We rarely do this, mainly because, chasing after kids and feeding them doesn't really leave any breakfast time for us and by the time we eat dinner, it is so late that the bugs are out.) I think we should do that much more often.

A bit after breakfast, we headed out up the road to show them the barrier islands and the Cape (Cape Canaveral). This is at Jetty Park where the cruise ships come in and out and the closest viewing point to see the shuttle when it takes off (the land behind us in the picture of just me and Jenn is actually NASA property where you can not walk or anchor on, and where all the launch pads are located.)

After that we headed to Fish Lips restaurant for a great lunch and then they headed back home to rescue their puppy from the luxurious spa he was staying at for the weekend. :)

It was an awesome weekend, and I can't wait to meet up with them again soon!

You can find their recap over at The Left Over Queen
